A595 Grizebeck Improvement Scheme – Update
On Monday this week, Story Contracting Limited (SCL) have begun to mobilise work on the A595 Grizebeck Improvement Scheme. SCL are in the process of setting up a temporary compound and welfare facilities, which shall be expanded when the overall works start on site mid-September. The temporary compound shall be accessed from the C classification road to the west side of the village, locally known as the Mousetrap.
The main body of work in the coming week, shall be trench excavation, which is required to carry out archaeological inspections. Assuming that there are no findings, once inspected, the trenches shall be backfilled. This is to be carried out in the same field as the temporary compound and expected to last until mid-August.
In addition to the archaeological inspection, SCL shall commence work on the habitat mitigation area. This shall include erecting fencing, stripping topsoil, creating a bund and excavation of the pond profile. These works shall continue until the end of August.
The public were informed in July, by letter of the commencement of work in August. In addition to this, we have also recently attended a public engagement session on July 31st which was well attended.
